We are seeking a qualified social worker / counsellor to co-facilitate psycho-educational individual and group sessions and provide associated case management functions for clients enrolled in the service.

You will work with victims and perpetrators for domestic violence and their children. You will promote respectful, non-violent relationships by changing beliefs, attitudes and behaviours at the individual and whanau level.

The role involves assessment and planning, safety planning, individual and group facilitation, increasing client awareness, building knowledge and skills to better respond to and prevent family violence.

Competencies required for this role are:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive job- related experience
  • Advanced understanding around the dynamics, impact and prevention of family violence
  • A working knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Advanced facilitation skills – individual and group, motivational & therapeutic
  • A demonstrated ability to engage children and whanau from diverse cultural backgrounds and sustain effective relationships
  • Sound knowledge of social work case management frameworks
  • Demonstrated assessment, analytical and conceptual skills 
  • Commitment to working collaboratively with other professionals 
  • Resilient and motivated character
  • Enjoy working as a team member
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient IT skills
  • Proven time management, excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • Full clean driver’s licence 

Qualifications required:

  • A Degree or Diploma qualification in Social Work or Counselling
  • Be registered with ANZASW or the NZRB
